Alistair & Helen Kerr (January 10) |

Thank you for your prayers for those who have been affected by the unexpected news of the Doulos being decommissioned this month. We have one girl, Anna from Canada, joining our Immersion team in January as she was unable to join the Doulos. About 50 people on the Doulos have been able to transfer to the Logos Hope, including Rebekah from Limerick, so this is an answer to prayer. Many more people are still deciding on their future and we are hopeful that some may decide to join OM Ireland. Before Christmas, we held a carol service using the Big Red Bus for the residents of Lisnamult estate in Roscommon. We were delighted by the many children and teenagers who joined us and all had good memories of our summer programme with the Dutch team. We plan to do other programmes in the community during the coming year. Our first venture will be a fitness programme starting in January in the local community centre and we hope this will open up new doors into the community. Alastair has been working on his year end accounts and has been handling most of the finance responsibilities as Verena, who had helped part time for the past year, is no longer able to assist in the office. We really need someone to deal with the day-to-day finances but Alastair has been freer recently to focus on this as Hanna takes over more of the personnel responsibilities. Alastair will be on jury service for a week in the middle of January so it will be a busy month for him. Alisha & Hannah recently took part in their first Irish Dancing Feis (competition) in which each child received a medal for each dance, and a trophy for the Trophy Dance! They are both very proud of these. We’ve been restricted over the holidays due to the snow and ice, even for Alastair getting to the office for a day, but had a great time with Helen’s family. |
